The journal
Cross & Collect is an Anglican journal that gathers and explores treasures from a living inheritance: common prayer, Scripture heard in the church, sacramental life, theological reflection, art, and practices of Christian community.
The journal does not assume that Anglicans own these gifts or have always received them well. Many belong to the whole church, and Anglican history includes fracture, compromise, and loss alongside beauty and wisdom. The essays approach that inheritance with affection, curiosity, and historical honesty.
Lutheran, Wesleyan, Roman Catholic, Orthodox, and patristic voices appear as conversation partners when they illuminate a question. They are not arranged as rivals or merged into a system. Cross & Collect remains an Anglican journal, glad to learn from the wider Christian communion.
Scripture in common prayer
Scripture is heard in worship, prayed in community, and allowed to question the church that receives it.
Grace as gift
Christian life begins in what God gives. Teaching and response matter, but neither replaces the promise of Christ given for us.
Tradition held with care
Inheritance is approached with gratitude, historical honesty, and a willingness to learn from both its beauty and its failures.
